Meet Karol
Karol Schaefer has been our social service professional since 1985. Over the years, she has worked for the Department of Human Services with indigent adults, families and the elderly.
Karol has worked many years with mothers and fathers with children striving to move them from poverty to self-sufficiency, setting goals and engaging them in work and training programs along with educational programs. She also worked as a case worker serving several nursing homes with services for the elderly. The last years of service with the Department of Human Services consisted of administrative duties for three offices in Douglas, Moultrie and Piatt counties.
In May 2012 she decided to retire to enjoy her grandchildren until 2015, when she re-entered the social service field by joining the Northeast Community Fund team overseeing the food distribution. She enjoys being part of an agency that continues to meet the needs of our community.
